We, that's Inge and Ralf and our children Catharina, Johannes and Julius. In our free time we love to live in close contact to nature as - due to our profession - we exclusively work together with people. In spring and autumn we work in the forest, making wood for heating. Animals have always played an important role in the Herbel house. About 30 years ago we fulfilled ourselves the dream to keep and breed horses. We decided for the American Paint Horse as its versatility and character fulfilled all our requirements. Our dogs have an even closer connection to our family life. We made our first experiences in breeding dogs with a litter of Airedale Terriers in 1981 from our bitch Tessy vom Felsenmeer - a litter of which we kept a little male. In the late 1980's family plans and building a house ruled our lives so that breeding paused. Nevertheless, our family grew… The brown Labrador bitch Betsy vom Wolfsfall moved to us in 1993. During the nearly sixteen years of her life she did not only give us two puppies but also influenced the image we had of dogs decisively. Personality and pride were the characteristics she conveyed to us. However, her hunting instincts made it really hard for us to spend a relaxing trail ride. Consequently, we were searching for a fit dog breed that could join our trail rides in the forests and meadows joyfully and for several hours. Our search led us to the Australian Cattle Dog. We did not hesitate when a friend of ours, breeder Hans Mayer, had a litter of cattle dog pups in spring 2007. The cattle dog bitch Bullroarer Betty-Boop, called Sally, turned us into proud ACD owners. During the course of time and coined by visiting puppy groups, dog schools, dog shows and training the dogs as riding companion dogs, our cattle dogs fascinate us more and more. And our pack is growing: since August 2009 Sally's daughter Martha (Horseman's Buddies Always on my Mind) belongs to the family and in November 2011 we imported our Liberty (Drywoods Kennel) from Dee Lentsch, USA. We completed our pack with Pandee and Nelson, both imported in July 2012.
